Tom Thomson is a retired (he thinks/hopes) computer scientist who started life as a mathematician and then got entangled with these interesting machines.   Current main computing interest is databases, and main maths interest is maths puzzles.  Worked for English Electric,  UEA, and CTL for short periods before settling down to quarter of a century in ICL, working on data communications for a bit more than half of that time and massively parallel systems (with a lot of database involvement)for the rest of it.  His last 12 years of work were with Harlequin as a divisional chief designer and a technology group leader, then Director and VP of R&D at Linkguard Ltd, and finally ending up as Technical Director (after periods as head of research and as head of  R&D) at Neos Interactive (a company doing computer based entertainment systems for luxury hotels).
